From the tranquil upper Avon, where we negotiate a path through waders and forgotten tenders, we left the tide take us down stream to the unique village of Bantham. From there we will circumnavigate the iconic landmark of Burgh Island which we’ll see from the perspective which only the adventurous can experience.
This trip is for anyone who wants to spend the weekend in and out of the water, swimming in rivers and sea taking part in distance swims (1 and 2.4 miles) and enjoying as many dips, bobs and dunks as possible. In order to make the most of this weekend we would recommend that swimmers can confidently swim a mile in open water and feel fit enough to push themselves on a longer swim. The long swim is not essential and there is the option to swim some, not all, of the longer swim so don’t exclude yourself if you still want to be a part of this fabulous weekend.
In a perfect world your weekend will look something like this:
16.00: Meet and walk down to a nearby watering hole for a welcome dip and a cuppa….cream tea anyone?

A relaxed start with a delicious breakfast
10am: Meet and swim, dip and dive our way along the Avon from Aveton Gifford to Bantham. We’ll decide where we’ll be dipping on Friday, with you and if you would like to swim it all we’ll have a proper chat with you on booking.
